How will we begin our analysis?
Very simple, we will start by focusing on the rival's game system, that is, on the spatial occupations it has both in attack and defense, to be able to predict how our rival will act). Next we will move on to the observation phase.
What will the observation phase consist of?
The observation phase consists mainly of contrasting our game system with that of the rival, so we will be able to see where and in what situations we will be able to play with an advantage and in which we will find ourselves in trouble.
Once we have analyzed in depth and know what structure the opponent adopts in offensive and defensive phases, we can begin to carry out the detailed analysis, it is nothing more than focusing on the most repetitive mechanics and ways of playing where the opponent falls for collective comfort within the game situation.
Having all this data collection (after having done the analysis) we can focus on the game situations that the rival can make.
- Offensive phase:
- Starting zone, in this we can observe the different ways of starting the play that the rival has, whether playing long, short or if there are players who are close to the ball or are further away.
- Progression zone, here we will analyze all the patterns that are most repeated in this zone. (We explain it in more detail in the video)
- Finishing zone, in this zone (used for what its name indicates) we will be able to observe what behaviors our rivals constantly repeat.
- Defensive phase:
- High block
- 1v1 matchmaking
- In intermediate
Furthermore, we must observe which players are the most decisive in the rival team, both defensively and offensively, and analyze in which situations and spaces they appear most, whether in the defensive or offensive phase. When you already have this, you must know if they have physical or qualitative superiority or if there is some association between several players which we would call socio-affective superiority.
Set pieces
📌 During the defensive phase we can defend in three completely different ways:
📌 Marking the man.
📌 Zone marking.
📌 Defense in a mixed way.
What should we analyze in the defensive phase of the game?
The most used plays or strategies of the rival, thanks to this we will be able to work on ways to counteract this type of situation in training. In this way we will anticipate this and have a tactical advantage.
We will not win a match by analyzing the opponent, but it is always good to have as many tools as possible (and know how to use them) at hand, so that our team's life is easier and the entire team gets closer to victory, since we will know where to hurt the opponent and defend ourselves from their strengths.
